Coffee Table

I've done a lot this week. I cleaned (and cleaned and CLEANED) my apartment, had four riding lessons, had Adam and my officemate Elizabeth over for dinner after their big exam, and played poker with friends. Unfortunately, this is another blog entry mostly about furniture, because I keep forgetting to take pictures of the more exciting things I've been doing!

This is my new coffee table. It was surprisingly hard to get. The first time I went to IKEA, they didn't have it. When I went back on Monday, I was pleased to see a big pile of boxes where there had been empty space before. The box was pretty heavy (about 60 pounds), but I managed to get it into my car and into my apartment. Unfortunately, it was the wrong color! When I took it back to IKEA, I realized that, in fact, they had stocked the whole wrong table -- an end table in a different color -- where my coffee table should have been. Three stockroom guys climbed up the shelves in the IKEA warehouse and handed down a 70-pound box from a pallet at least 20 feet off the ground. At the IKEA "loading dock," a nice lady waiting for her family helped me get the box into my car. When I got back to my apartment, I gradually worked the box about halfway up the outside stairs before someone down the street asked if I needed help with it. He carried it up to the door of my apartment for me.

But I put it together all by myself! Which was also an adventure, since it tried to fall apart halfway through.

Here's a picture that shows why I wanted this particular coffee table -- it opens up to hold my board games (and jigsaw puzzles!)

Pretty lake, new bookshelves

Mom fixed the mitten flag.

Later the sun set behind the mitten.

Dad and Mariah watched it too.

This is a picture of Mom and Charlie. :)

Here's my new bookshelf... "Beech" is a different color than it used to be, apparently.

A closeup. Do you think it matches?

Here's the other side of the living room, with the keyboard behind the couch.

Adam and I also put together a new bookshelf for my office.

Slow news week?

This wasn't in any way a slow news week, but there aren't many photos...

I didn't take my camera to Grand Island for Grandpa Chuck's funeral.

I forgot to take it to Lincoln when I went to talk to professor friends.

The only photo I have from this week is this one:

We stayed VERY late at Grandma Mabel & Grandpa Sir's house, looking at -- what else? -- photos!

More Massachusetts and Cyd's Wedding

I tried out my Chinese brush painting kit.

We went up the hill behind Adam's parents' house

and saw some plants growing under the snow.

We did a puzzle

and went to Best Buy.

This is what the puzzle looked like when we got done.

Later in the week, Cyd got married. (So did Lou, but I didn't get any good pictures of him.)

We collected pears and a pomegranate.

Then everybody went home.
